Rev. Harness joined St. Johns in August of 2025.
She earned her Master of Divinity from Eden Seminary in St. Louis,
MO. She was ordained by the St. Louis Association of the Missouri
Mid-South Conference of the United Church of Christ at St. Johns
UCC in Mehlville, MO in March of 2014.
She as served as Director of Christian Education, Youth Pastor,
Associate Pastor and Senior Pastor in four churches in the St. Louis
area. Following her retirement in 2023, Rev. Harness provided
Sunday morning pulpit supply to churches of the United Church of
Christ in the Missouri Mid-South Conference and the Illinois South
Conference.
Rev. Harness came out of retirement in 2025 to serve St. Johns
United Church of Christ in Smithton, Illinois.
Born and raised in Southern Illinois, I moved to Smithton in 2019. I have been the administrative assistant for St. John’s since 2024. I work for Belleville school district 118 as a paraprofessional.
I have been the Bookkeeper for St. John’s UCC for many years and am a lifelong member of the church. I work as an accountant at a large company based in St. Louis. I am married to my husband, Chris, and we have two children and one granddaughter.
